so i updated my address with the dmv like two weeks ago, but i just got a car registration notice sent to my old address. did something go wrong or do i just need to wait longer? idk if the update didn’t fully go through. any advice would help!
happened to me too. the dmv told me the update sometimes doesn’t reflect everywhere right away. did you check your mydmv account to see if the address is updated there?

oh no, i didn’t check that yet. can i do that online or do i have to go in person?
@Beck
yeah, you can log in online. just go to the dmv site and look for the mydmv section. should show your current address there.
@Beck
online is way easier. i updated mine and it took like 3 days to show up everywhere.
you might want to call the dmv. they can confirm if the change processed or not. sometimes it takes longer if you mailed in the form instead of doing it online.

ugh, i mailed mine in… does that usually take longer?
@Beck
yeah, mailing takes a bit. online is faster, usually like 3 days versus a week or more by mail.
just to be safe, you should set up mail forwarding with the post office so nothing gets lost while the dmv sorts it out.

oh, good idea. how long does mail forwarding last?
@Beck
standard is 12 months, but you can extend it after that if you need more time.
dmv stuff always takes forever lol. i’d give it another week and then follow up if nothing changes.

lol, yeah, that’s what i was thinking too. thanks for the heads up!
idk if this helps, but when i had this issue, calling the dmv directly got it fixed fast. have your id number and new address ready.

that’s good to know. do they take forever to answer calls though?
@Beck
depends on the time of day. mornings are usually better. afternoons are a nightmare.
