I’m on a crazy stretch of night shifts and I have a quick question about consecutive overtime. I’ve been working for over 20 days straight, and I know I usually get OT after the 8th consecutive shift. But here’s my dilemma: I picked up a few short shifts, and I’m wondering if working a 4-hour shift one day breaks my consecutive days? I thought I could keep my consecutive OT going… what do you all think?
I think you can keep the consecutive days as long as it’s within the same pay period. But it sounds like your scheduler is being strict.

Yeah, I’ve heard mixed things too. I always thought it was about the shifts being on different days. IDK… maybe check the union guidelines?
@Ash
Good idea. I just hope they don’t try to pull a fast one on you. That’d be frustrating.
From what I know, working a 4-hour shift shouldn’t break your streak. I’ve done it before and still logged my OT. Just double-check the rules though.

Thanks for the tip. I thought it was okay too, but my scheduler made it sound like I messed up.
It might depend on how your scheduler interprets the union contract. They can be tricky sometimes. Maybe ask for clarification from HR?

That’s a solid plan. HR should be able to give you the right info. Don’t let them stress you too much.
I get that struggle. It’s tough to balance shifts and family time, especially around the holidays. Hang in there.

Thanks. I just want to make a little extra for the kids, you know?
Honestly, I think if you’re working every day, you should be good. Just keep track of your hours. Good luck.

Appreciate it. I’ll keep an eye on my hours and see how this plays out.
