Court notice I missed... Will paying the fine stop my license suspension?

I got a court notice a few months ago, but I didn’t even realize it was sent to me. Now, I’ve got a conviction notice for failing to obey a traffic control device here in Oregon. The fine is $270 and there’s an additional $15 for reinstatement. I just received a letter saying my license will be suspended in 2 months. If I pay the $285, can I avoid the suspension? Anyone else been in this situation?

I had the same issue a while back. I paid the fine, and it stopped my suspension, so it should work for you too. Just don’t wait too long!

Yeah, I had a similar situation, but I didn’t call the DMV after paying and it caused a delay. Definitely give them a heads up once it’s processed.

Good tip, thanks! I was wondering if I should contact them after the payment goes through.

Yeah, just wait 3-5 days for the payment to clear. It’s like waiting for paint to dry, but it’s worth it!

Definitely call the court after you pay, especially if you just got your CDL. You don’t want to risk that suspension affecting your job.

Exactly! I just passed my CDL Class A test, so this suspension is a big deal for me.

I had an issue with a missed court notice once, and paying the fine and reinstatement fee was all it took to stop the suspension. You’ll be fine.

Just make sure you don’t wait too long to make the payment. The system can take time to update, and you don’t want to miss the deadline.

Yeah, I’m on it. I made the payment today, so I’m just letting it process. Fingers crossed!
