Hey all, I got full physical custody of my daughter in 2017, and her mom has 50% legal custody plus some limited visitation rights. She’s only tried to visit once since 2016, and my daughter’s not too into their calls, hangs up almost right away. Recently, the mother’s claiming I’m alienating her and has even put up videos online saying I abused her. She’s also trying to get more involved in things like our daughter’s medical care. She’s even mentioned going for 100% custody or reunification therapy… I’m honestly at a loss. Anyone else been through this?
That sounds rough. I can relate, though… my ex also put things online that were totally one-sided. Courts really don’t like it when parents try to change custody without major reasons.

Thanks. Yeah, the videos are tough to handle, but I’m trying not to let it affect my kid. Hoping the court will see things for what they are.

Exactly. Courts often stick with the current custody unless there’s a big change in circumstances.
If she’s claiming alienation, she probably thinks it’ll get her sympathy. But without actual proof, her chances aren’t great.

Right? It’s just her saying things with no evidence. Hoping that works in my favor.

Yep, judges usually don’t look kindly on false accusations without proof.
Has she been involved in medical stuff before? If not, the court might not see her recent demands as valid.

She’s tried here and there, but nothing consistent. I think she’s just looking for reasons to complain now.
When she says ‘reunification therapy,’ does she expect you to pay? That doesn’t seem fair if she’s been MIA.

Yeah, she actually thinks I should cover it all. I just don’t see why that should fall on me.

If she hasn’t been there for your daughter, making you pay is just unreasonable.
Have you looked into defamation? With those YouTube videos, you might have a case if she’s lying about abuse.

I haven’t yet, but it’s definitely something I’ve considered. Just feels so draining.

Might be worth it if she’s damaging your reputation. Courts can even make her remove them if proven false.
