So, I was denied a public defender today because my income is over the limit. Can I apply for legal aid instead? My arraignment is on Nov 12th. Any advice?

You should check with your local legal aid office. They’ll ask for income info to see if you qualify.

If you don’t qualify for legal aid, maybe try talking to some local attorneys. Some do free consultations or payment plans.

Sort of. Legal aid helps low-income people with legal stuff, but it’s not always free.

FYI, if you’re close to the income limit, it’s still worth checking with legal aid. They sometimes make exceptions.

IDK about legal aid, but make sure you don’t miss your arraignment date. That’s super important.
