Do I need a vision test to renew my license in NJ?

I’m renewing my driver’s license in New Jersey, and I’ve done it many times before online. Do I need a vision test this time around? IDK if it’s required every time or just when it’s been a while since the last one…

Hey, I had the same question! Turns out, in NJ you need to have a vision test at least once every 10 years. If you haven’t had one in the last 10 years, you’ll need to take it. You can get it done at any licensed place, or even at the MVC when you renew.

Same here. I had to take a quick vision test last time I renewed. They just make sure you can see well enough to drive. It’s pretty simple!

Oh, if you’re good with glasses or contacts, they’ll just note that on your license. It’s no big deal. Just make sure your vision’s up to snuff before you go in.

Good to know! I wear contacts, so I guess that’s something I’ll have to keep in mind.

I went last year and just got it done at the MVC. It was super quick and easy. If it’s been over 10 years since your last test, you’ll have to take one again, but you can do it right there.

Nice, I didn’t even realize you could do it there! I’ll do that when I go in.

If you don’t need corrective lenses, it’s no big deal. But yeah, if you do, they’ll just put a note on your license to let you know. Simple!
