My solar panels company just filed for bankruptcy, and I have to send proof for my claim online. Not sure if I need to hide personal info like account numbers, or what documents are best to send. Also wondering if it’s better to mail it instead of online?
Yeah, usually you have to redact any sensitive info, like just leave the last 4 digits if it’s an account number. I had to do the same thing a few years back.

What does redact mean exactly? I get the hiding part but not sure how to do it.
@Jaden
Basically, it just means blacking out or covering up parts of the info you don’t want public, like your full SSN. You can do it digitally if you’re submitting online.
@Ty
Yep, that works too. Just make sure it’s readable where it needs to be, like partial account numbers or dates.
I’d say sending it by mail is safer, but some people prefer online for speed. Whatever you’re more comfortable with.

Mailing it does feel safer… but is it slower for processing, you think?
@Vale
Yeah, it might be a bit slower, but at least it feels more secure. If you have time, maybe that’s better.
If they gave you any specific instructions, maybe follow those. Some places prefer online to keep everything digital.

True, depends on the court’s setup. Online works well if you’re comfortable with it.
@Tate
Exactly, it’s just personal preference really. But yeah, whatever the court says is best.
Just be sure to keep copies of everything you send in, whether it’s by mail or online.

Good idea, definitely keeping copies! Thanks for all the tips, everyone.
