Do I need to update my vehicle title before selling it?

Hey, I’m selling my car, but the title still has my old name and address on it. Do I need to update that before I sign it over to the buyer? Anyone know if that’s a big deal or not?

I had the same issue when I sold my car. As long as the name on the title matches your legal name, you’re probably good to go. Just let the buyer know about the outdated address, though.

If you’re in a hurry, you can sell it like that, but if you want to avoid potential issues, it might be better to go ahead and update the title before the sale. Just depends on how quick you need to close the deal.

I’d just update it for peace of mind, tbh. It’s not too much trouble, and it’ll make the transaction smoother.

Florida doesn’t seem too strict about the address being outdated as long as the name checks out. You can always tell the buyer about it, and they should be fine. But yeah, a bill of sale wouldn’t hurt.

Thanks for the info, guys! I’ll probably update it just to be safe, but good to know it’s not a total dealbreaker either way.
