Hey, so I’m 66 years old, been driving for years without any accidents, but recently my doctor told me I can’t drive anymore. Totally came out of nowhere. I don’t know what to do now. I haven’t had my license revoked or anything, just got told I’m not safe to drive. Anyone else gone through this? What happens next?
That sounds really frustrating, I can’t imagine being told that out of the blue. Did your doctor say what the actual concern was? Like, any specific condition that makes you unsafe to drive?

Nope, she didn’t mention anything specific, just said I ‘can’t drive’ anymore. I’m kinda freaking out about it tbh.
I think if your doctor says you’re unsafe to drive, they might notify the DMV. They could make you take a driving test or an eye exam again. Definitely worth checking into.

Yikes, that sounds like a hassle. I really hope it doesn’t get to that point.
Are you in the 07480 ZIP code? Laws can be a bit different depending on where you live, so just curious if that’s something you’ve looked into?

Yep, I’m in that area. I didn’t even think about how the laws could vary. Thanks for the heads-up!
I had a similar situation with a family member once. The doctor sent paperwork to the DMV, and they had to retake a driving test. It took a while, but they eventually got their license back. It’s a process, but not the end of the world.
@Ellery
That’s good to know. I guess it’s not the end of the world, just a lot to figure out. Thanks for sharing that!
This is a tough situation, but don’t panic. If you’re in doubt, a traffic lawyer can help with any questions or legal stuff related to driving restrictions. They could probably guide you on what steps to take next.
@Jonah
Thanks, I didn’t even think about talking to a lawyer. Might be a good idea to get some advice.
