My sons passed last year and the official report listed his death as unattended/attended because they found him submerged under water. They ruled it an accidental drowning but I don’t agree with that. His girlfriend should be looked into based on the statements and evidence. Some of his belongings weren’t properly surrendered and were in his dad’s possession. Plus, employees claimed they saw my son driving his black truck, but the report said it was gray! I’m confused by the investigation process, especially how he was considered a missing person for over 12 hours. Anyone know what I can do to push this further?
Sorry to hear about your son, that’s a lot to deal with. Have you been in touch with the police about the evidence you have? I’ve heard they might not always act on every tip unless there’s something solid. It might help if you get an investigator involved.
@Ren
Yeah, the police can be slow sometimes, especially if they don’t have all the pieces. Did you try contacting someone higher up in the department? Maybe they’ll pay more attention to the new info.

That’s a good idea. It’s frustrating when it feels like they’re not doing enough, but maybe escalating it could help.
I totally get the confusion. If there’s a discrepancy in the truck color or where the items ended up, that might be something worth bringing up again. A private investigator could be worth considering if the cops aren’t moving fast enough.
@Scout
What exactly does a private investigator do in cases like this? Is it the same as hiring a detective?

Yeah, kind of! A private investigator would follow up on leads that the police might not pursue. They’re usually ex-cops or experts who know how to dig deeper into cases like this.
I’m sorry for your loss. It sounds like the investigation is really not going how it should. If you feel the police aren’t handling it properly, you might want to take it to social media to gather support. Public pressure sometimes makes a difference.
It’s heartbreaking to deal with all this on top of losing someone. I agree with the others, escalating things to a private investigator or even higher authorities could help. Just don’t let them sweep it under the rug.
@Tatum
Exactly. It might be the only way to get real answers if the police are stuck. Have you thought about reaching out to anyone who could help raise awareness?
That’s really confusing, especially with the truck color mix-up. Maybe try contacting a lawyer too? They could guide you on how to deal with the police or help in pushing for more action.
