My wife needs to renew her ID but she no longer drives. Does the renewal have to be done in person or is there another way to handle it?
It really depends on your state. Generally, ID renewals can be done in person at the DMV, but some states offer online renewals for those who aren’t required to take a driving test.

Ohh, I didn’t know online renewals are possible! Do they do that for IDs, too? That’d be way easier than going to the DMV.
@Casey
Yeah, in some places you can do it online, but you’ll have to check with your DMV to see if that’s an option where you are. It’s not universal.
I had to renew my ID last year, and even though I don’t drive, I still had to go in person. Seems like it varies a lot depending on the state though.

That’s a bummer! It’s so much more convenient when things can be done online. Hopefully, they’ll offer that option more in the future.
Is this for a state-issued ID or a driver’s license? Some states treat those differently when it comes to renewal methods.

It’s for a state-issued ID. She doesn’t drive anymore, so we’re trying to figure out if she can avoid going in person.
I think the DMV website should have details about renewing IDs without driving. You could always give them a call too, they’re pretty helpful on these things.
Thanks for the info, everyone! I’ll check out the DMV site and see if she can do it online.
