So a civilian in our military squadron went ahead and bought $9,000 worth of beer, and now they want to resell it in our squadron for a profit to fund the booster club. IDK, but this feels kind of sketchy. Anyone know if that’s legal? I haven’t reported it yet because I’m not sure if they even got a license or anything. We’re based in Hawaii, so not sure if that matters… but yeah, any advice would be helpful!
That definitely sounds fishy… unless they have a license, selling alcohol for a profit is probably illegal. I would check with your legal team first.
I think they need a license to resell alcohol, especially if it’s for profit. I’m not an expert, but if it’s a booster club event, even that doesn’t usually get them off the hook with the law.
If they’re trying to make a profit, they definitely need a resale license. Without it, they could run into legal trouble. It’s really important to look into that.
If it’s for the booster club, doesn’t that change things? I mean, it’s for a good cause, right?
Sounds like he would be in serious trouble if he tries to make a profit without a license. They might have to pay taxes on it too if that happens.
