Hi, I have a situation where my children were supposed to receive money from a settled compensation case. Their grandmother settled the case after her husband died, and the kids were to get money on their 18th, 21st, and 24th birthdays. The contract states the money goes to her, and she’s supposed to distribute it. She’s been receiving the checks but is now refusing to give the money to the kids. We threatened legal action before, and she sent some to my son, but now she’s not budging. Has anyone experienced something similar? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
Now is the time to talk to a lawyer. It sounds like she might be trying to assert some control over the money.
Definitely consult with a lawyer. You need to know your rights and the best way to proceed legally.
It’s frustrating when family gets in the way of what was promised. Document everything and keep records of communication.
Money can definitely bring out the worst in people. It’s sad that it’s come to this with your kids’ grandmother.

Yeah, it’s tough. Just remember to stay focused on what’s best for the kids. They deserve that money.
