Help with health insurance issues after job loss?

Hey everyone, I’m in a bit of a bind and could use some advice. I recently left a job at a small company in Colorado, and they were acquired and are now dissolving. My separation agreement promised health insurance through November, but I’m having a hard time figuring out my options after that. I was initially told I could get state continuation, but things have been super confusing. I reached out for clarification but got no response. Then, they suddenly told me my coverage would end in just a couple of days, and I was sent in circles about my options. I found out that continuation is still available, which they didn’t tell me. Is it wrong for them to withhold this info? What should I do next? Thanks for any help!

That sounds really frustrating. It definitely seems like they mishandled your situation. You should consult with a lawyer about this.

Yeah, I agree. It feels like they should have been upfront with you about your options.

You might also want to reach out to the Colorado Department of Insurance. They can give you specific guidance on your rights.

Good idea! I’ll definitely look into that. Thanks!

This sounds like it could be illegal. They can’t just leave you without options, especially after promising coverage.

Right? It might be worth gathering all your communications as proof.

Have you checked if you can apply for a marketplace plan? You might qualify for special enrollment due to losing coverage.

Yeah, but my doctors are out-of-network on those plans, which is why I was hoping to stick with the continuation option.

Definitely document everything. If they don’t respond, you might need to escalate this with a formal complaint.
