Hey everyone, I’ve got a question about figuring out if an EEOC case from 2020 was closed. I have the case number but no idea how to find details online. Has anyone dealt with this before?
I’ve looked into EEOC stuff before. There’s no public database for these cases, unlike court cases. Have you tried contacting the EEOC directly?

Oh, I didn’t realize there isn’t a public database. I’ll give them a call. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, they’ll probably ask for your case number. Shouldn’t be too hard to get info from them.
If you lost the closure letter, you could submit a FOIA request to the EEOC. That’s another way to get the document.

FOIA request? What’s that? Sounds complicated lol.

It’s a Freedom of Information Act request. You just fill out a form to ask the agency for records. It’s pretty straightforward!
If the case also involved a County Human Rights Commission, maybe they have some records too. Worth a shot!

Oh yeah, it was filed with them too. I’ll check with them as well. Thanks for the idea!
For future reference, always save these letters digitally. Makes life way easier, trust me.

Lol, lesson learned. I’ll definitely do that from now on.
