I want to get my driver’s license in California, but I haven’t started yet. I live in Cherry Valley, Riverside. Can anyone walk me through the steps to get started?
Hey, you can start by filling out an application on the DMV website. Here’s the link: Apply Online for a Driver License or ID Card - California DMV Then you’ll go to your local DMV with that to get things rolling.
@Arlo
Thanks, I didn’t know about the online link. That seems easy enough. Is that the first thing I should do?

Yep, that’s where it starts. After you apply online, you’ll head to the DMV to take the written test. They’ll schedule the road test after that.
Once you’re done with the written test, you can schedule your road test. Make sure you’re prepared for both tests, since that’s the main hurdle to getting your license!

Good to know! I haven’t studied for the written test yet, but now I know what to expect.
You’ll need your application and some documents when you visit the DMV. They’ll give you more details when you show up with your online application.

Thanks for the heads-up! I’ll make sure to check what documents I need before heading to the DMV.
Once you pass the road test, you’ll get your license right then. They might give you a temporary one while your official card gets printed.
If you prefer online chat with a technician for help during the process, that could be a faster way to get support if you need it!

Yeah, I’m thinking online chat would be better for me too. I’ll go with that when I get the chance.
