Hey all, I got a deferred sentence for a DV, and my probation is supposed to end next week. The thing is, they haven’t approved this paper that needs to be signed for it to be officially completed. I’ve been following up but no luck so far. Any advice on what I should do?
Have you tried contacting your probation officer directly? They should be able to explain what’s holding things up.

Yeah, I’ve reached out a few times. They just keep saying it’s ‘in process.’ Not really helpful, tbh.

Ugh, that sucks. Maybe escalate it to their supervisor? Sometimes that gets things moving faster.
What paper are they holding up? Is it something you were supposed to submit, or just their approval?

It’s just their approval. I submitted everything on time.

Gotcha. Keep following up daily. They’re more likely to prioritize it if you keep showing up on their radar.
FYI, you have the right to ask them why there’s a delay. They should at least give you a clear reason.

Good point, I’ll ask them about that. Hopefully, it pushes them to move faster.
If they don’t sign it in time, does it delay your probation ending? That would be super frustrating.

Exactly. That’s what I’m worried about. I don’t want to get stuck because of their delay.

Totally understandable. Maybe ask a lawyer or someone who knows the system well. They might have tips to speed it up.
You could also try going in person if you haven’t already. Sometimes face-to-face makes a difference.

I haven’t yet, but I’ll give that a shot. Maybe it’ll work better than calling.
