Hey everyone, so I put a price on a title for a gift but haven’t submitted anything yet. The thing is, I’m in Massachusetts. Any advice on how to go about this? Should I just go ahead and submit it or is there something specific I need to do first?
You’re in Massachusetts, right? If you’re putting a price on a gift title, you might need to submit the paperwork to the DMV. Have you reached out to them yet?

I haven’t yet, just trying to figure out the next steps. Thanks for the tip!
You might be able to change the price to $0, but you’d probably need to verify the change with the DMV. You can’t just write it in—usually they need proof.

Got it. So, do I need to do that at the DMV itself or could a notary verify it?

It’s usually the DMV since it’s a title change, but I’d double-check with them just to be sure!
If you’re trying to change the price on the title, you’ll want to make sure the DMV has the proper paperwork. A notary probably won’t be enough in this case.

Ah, ok. Looks like I’ll need to head to the DMV then. Thanks!
I think changing the title like that could get tricky without the DMV involved. Just make sure everything is legit to avoid any issues later on.

Yeah, that’s what I’m worried about. I’ll make sure to do it the right way. Appreciate the heads up!
You’ll probably want to make sure the DMV is on board with the change. That’s the best route to avoid any trouble later!
