I think my employer might be retaliating against me for reporting my workplace injuries. I reported my injury on May 20, and then I was drug tested on September 30 and October 1. Now I’ve been suspended for five days because they say my test was altered. Has anyone else experienced something like this?
That sounds really frustrating. It definitely seems suspicious, especially since your suspension came right after reporting your injury.

Yeah, it feels like they’re punishing me for trying to do the right thing. I’ve also noticed they keep messing with my paycheck.
@Jamie
That’s really unfair. Have you documented all of this? It might help if you need to take further action.
Definitely keep a record of everything. It’s super important to have documentation if you want to challenge their actions later.

Good idea. I’ll start writing everything down. I just wish it wasn’t such a hassle.
You should also request a copy of your company’s drug testing policy. If they claim your test was altered, they need proof.

Right? They should have to show me something if they’re making those claims. I’ll definitely ask for that.
If you’re salary exempt, they can’t just change your pay without good reason. It might be worth talking to HR about that.

I thought so too. I’ll send them an email to clarify what’s going on with my paycheck.
@Jamie
Good plan! Make sure to keep a copy of that email for your records.
If things keep getting worse, it might be a good idea to consult an attorney. They can help you understand your rights better.

That’s true. I need to figure out if I should look for legal help. I’ll see what my options are.
