Hey everyone, I’m looking to get evaluated for VA disability benefits. This is my first time going through this, and I have no idea where to begin. Anyone know the process or what steps I need to take?
I went through the same thing recently. To start, you need to make an appointment at your local VA medical center. They’ll set you up with a medical exam to determine your disability. Hope that helps!

Thanks, I didn’t know that! Do I just call them to set up the appointment?
@Tracy
Yep, you can call them or even do it online. Here’s the link to get more info: VA Claim Exam (C&P Exam) | Veterans Affairs
If you need any help with the paperwork or what to expect during the exam, let me know! I just went through it last year.

I might reach out! I’m a little lost on the whole thing. Was it complicated?
@Fallon
It wasn’t too bad, but the paperwork can be a bit much. Once you get the hang of it, it goes smoother. Let me know if you need tips!
It’s pretty straightforward once you get started. Just make sure to bring all your medical records with you when you go to the VA center. That can help speed things up.

Good to know! Is there anything specific I should prepare for the exam?
@Oli
Mainly just any medical evidence you have related to your disability. They’ll ask you questions and do some exams to assess your condition.
I think the first time is always the trickiest, but you got this! Definitely reach out if you need help with anything else.
