Lost my driver’s license in Texas... what now?

So I just realized I lost my driver’s license when I got back from Kansas City, MO last September. I’m in Texas, and I have no idea where to start with getting a replacement. Anyone gone through this before? Would love some tips!

Yeah, I lost mine a while back. If you meet the eligibility stuff (like your license isn’t expired or suspended), you can do it online. Super easy.

Oh, that’s good to know! What do I need for the online process?

Just your license number, date of birth, and a debit or credit card for the $11 fee. They mail it to you in like 10 days.

If online isn’t an option, you can just hit up a Texas DPS office. Bring ID and proof of residency. It’s $11 there too.

Do I need to make an appointment for that, or can I just show up?

Appointments are best if you wanna avoid crazy wait times. They’ve got an online scheduler you can use.

If you’re out of Texas, you can still replace it online if eligible. I had to do that once while traveling.

Oh, interesting! Did they mail it to you where you were staying?

Yep! Just make sure you update the address during the process.

If you think it was stolen, you should report it. People can use your info for identity theft, and that’s a headache.

Yikes, didn’t even think of that. Who do I report it to?

Local law enforcement first, and you can also add a fraud alert to your credit file. Better safe than sorry.

FYI, if your address has changed, you’ll need to update it when replacing the license.

Yep, you can do it online or at the DPS office. Super simple!
