I lost my driver’s license and need to get a replacement sent to my address in California. Can I do this online? Anyone know the steps?
Yeah, you can replace it online. You just need to go through the California DMV website. Pretty straightforward.

Do you need to create an account or something? Or can you just fill out a form?
@Dawson
Yeah, you need a DMV account. Once you’re logged in, there’s an option to request a replacement license.
I did this last year. You’ll have to pay a fee, but it’s not too bad. Took about 2 weeks to get mine in the mail.

Do they send it automatically once you apply, or do you need to do anything else?
@Mackenzie
Once you apply and pay, they process it and mail it to your address. Just make sure your address is up to date!
FYI, if you have a suspended license, you might not be able to replace it online. Might need to call them.

Oh, good to know. Do they tell you online if you can’t replace it?
@Ezra
Yeah, when you enter your info, it’ll tell you if you’re eligible or not.
If you want to chat with someone about it, you can do an online chat with a DMV rep. That helped me when I had questions.

Nice, didn’t know they had a chat option. Is it quick?
@Shawn
It depends. Sometimes there’s a wait, but it’s way better than calling IMO.
Just make sure you don’t fall for any fake DMV sites. Always go to the official California DMV website.

Yeah, I saw some sketchy sites that looked like the DMV but were scams. Be careful!
