Hey everyone, I lost my driver’s license recently here in Lubbock County, Texas. It’s been about a week, and I’m not sure what the best steps are to get a replacement. Anyone know what to do or where to start?
You can apply for a replacement online if your license isn’t expired and your info hasn’t changed. Super easy!

Good to know! Do you have the link for that? I haven’t done anything like this online before.
@Wynn
Yeah, just go to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) website. They’ve got an Online Services section for this.
If you can’t do it online, you’ll have to go to your local DPS office. Make sure to bring ID and your Social Security number.

Do I need an appointment, or can I just walk in?
@Wynn
It’s better to book an appointment online. Walk-ins can take forever. Check their website for scheduling.
The fee for a replacement is around $11, btw. Make sure you’ve got that covered before you go!

Thanks for the heads-up! Do they take cash, or is it card-only?

Pretty sure they take both, but card is usually faster. Less hassle.
If you’ve moved recently, make sure the address on file is correct, or you might not get your replacement in the mail.

Oh, I didn’t think of that. I moved last month. Do I need proof of my new address?
@Wynn
Yep, bring a utility bill or bank statement with your new address on it. That should work.
If you don’t have a passport or birth certificate, you might run into trouble proving your identity. Just a heads-up.

Oh no, I don’t have a passport. Will a Social Security card and my paper license work?
@Wynn
That should be fine. The paper license is usually enough proof since it’s official.
