Need help getting my 1099-R for 2023... anyone know how?

Hey, I’m trying to get a copy of my 1099-R for tax year 2023, but I’ve lost the original and don’t have the address for DFAS. I had a stroke and can’t handle it all. Any idea how I can get a copy?

You should reach out to DFAS directly. They should be able to send you a copy of your 1099-R. I think they have an online form you can fill out.

You can go to the DFAS website and search for ‘1099-R request’. They’ll have all the info you need there. If not, a quick call to their office should get you sorted.

I was in a similar situation last year. If you don’t have the phone number, you can try sending them a request through their online portal or by mail.

Yeah, they might have an email for document requests. Just check the contact page on their site. You could even ask for help with the request if needed.

I had the same issue after my surgery. DFAS can send you another 1099-R, but it might take a little time. Just make sure you provide all the info they ask for.

A lawyer? For a 1099-R? That sounds like overkill lol.

It might sound like it, but if you’ve lost the form and it’s complicated, a lawyer could help speed things up and make sure you don’t miss anything important.

DFAS should have a way to send that to you online or by mail. I would suggest filling out the form on their site if you can. It’s pretty straightforward.
