No call for scheduled phone interview... anyone dealt with this?

Hey folks, my sister-in-law, Janda, was supposed to have a phone interview with Social Security at 1 pm today, but no one called her. We’ve been waiting over 30 minutes now and not sure what to do next. Anyone else run into this? Any advice would be great!

This happened to me before. I ended up calling the Social Security office myself to follow up. Has she tried that yet?

Yeah, she’s trying to get through, but the wait is so long right now.

Their phone lines are always slow! Might be easier to just go in person if she can.

@Teo
True, going in person worked faster for me too. Might be worth it to try that if she’s able.

@Teo
Thanks, we’ll keep that in mind! Hoping the phone option works though.

Did she get any confirmation for the interview? Like an email or a letter?

Yeah, she got a letter confirming the appointment time, but still no call. :confused:

That’s frustrating. Maybe reach out to reschedule if they don’t respond soon?

What is she trying to apply for? Maybe it depends on the type of application?

She’s applying for Social Security benefits from her ex-husband who passed away.

Got it, thanks for clarifying. Hope it works out for her soon!

Thanks! We’re hoping to get it sorted soon too. :crossed_fingers:

Make sure she’s got all her documents handy when she calls or visits the office—divorce papers, death certificate, bank details, all that stuff.

Yep, she’s got everything ready. Just need them to pick up!

Tbh, dealing with Social Security over the phone can be a nightmare. I had better luck just going to the office in person. Way quicker!

Good to know! We might do that if they don’t call back soon. Thanks!
