My son gets ABA services at home, and I requested for him to receive them at school too, since they allow other students in our district to have them. It’s been 2 weeks since I submitted all the data they asked for, and I still haven’t heard anything back. What rights do I have to push this forward? Should I be following up?
That’s frustrating! If other students are getting ABA services, I don’t see why they’d delay yours. Maybe reach out to the principal again or get in touch with the superintendent?

I’m thinking of reaching out again, but it’s weird how they asked for all this info and now nothing.

Yeah, it sounds like they’re dragging their feet. You might need to escalate it or get legal help if they don’t respond soon.
@Kirby
Good point. I might look into talking to someone if they don’t respond this week.
So they let other kids have ABA therapists in school but are taking forever to get back to you? That’s messed up.

Exactly! I don’t understand why they’re making us wait. My son needs this just like the others do.
@Micah
You’d think they’d want to help him ASAP. Might just be bureaucracy slowing things down, but definitely keep pushing.
Did you try reaching out to the Disability Rights Center? They can sometimes help push these things forward quicker.

Yeah, I contacted them. Waiting for a call back, hoping they can help.
@Micah
That’s great! They’ll probably help speed things up. Just having them involved can make the school take things more seriously.
IDK much about Maryland’s laws, but you might have the right to push back on their delay if they’re letting other kids get services. Keep a record of all your emails and interactions.

I’ve been keeping all the emails. Hopefully that helps if I need to take it further.
@Micah
For sure, good idea. It’ll come in handy if you need to prove they’ve been stalling.
Wow, two weeks and no response? That’s ridiculous. Definitely don’t let them ignore this. Your son has a right to get the same support as the other kids.

Yeah, it’s been frustrating. I’m not giving up, though.
@Micah
Good! Keep fighting for him. Hopefully they’ll respond soon.
