Got a speeding ticket for going 86 in a 70 zone on a highway in Ohio. I have a PA license. Wondering if it’s worth fighting the ticket or if I should just pay the fine? Also, will this add points to my PA license or stay on my record permanently? Any advice?
I don’t think points transfer to PA for out-of-state tickets. Pretty sure it’s just on your insurance.

Oh, that’s good to know. Do you think it’ll still affect my insurance?

Yeah, probably. Insurers usually see out-of-state tickets, even if points don’t transfer. Depends on your company though.
Ohio keeps tickets on record for like 3 years, I think. You’re stuck with it for insurance purposes during that time.

Wait, what happens after 3 years? Does it just disappear?

Kinda. It won’t impact your insurance anymore after 3 years, but the ticket stays in your full history if someone looks it up.
You could try to get it reduced to a non-moving violation. Might help with insurance rates.

How would I do that? Do I have to go to court?

Yeah, usually. Contact the court in Ohio and ask if they offer plea bargains or traffic school.
Moving to another state won’t block you from getting a license, but the ticket might still show up on your record.

Does that mean insurance in the new state could still go up?

Yep, insurers will see your full history no matter where you move.
If it’s your first ticket and points don’t transfer, might not be worth fighting it. Just my two cents.

Fair point. I guess it depends on the insurance hit.
