Should we attend docket call if motion to extend is pending?

We’ve got a docket call Zoom hearing tomorrow for our student loan adversary case in Texas. We filed a motion to extend deadlines, but we haven’t heard a decision yet. Do we still attend the docket call, or wait for a ruling on the motion? Anyone been through this?

Yeah, you should definitely attend. Courts usually want updates, even if your motion isn’t decided yet.

Makes sense. Do we just explain about the pending motion during the hearing?

Exactly. Mention the motion, why you filed it, and how it affects your case. They’ll likely ask about it.

Not attending could hurt your case. They might move forward without your input, which wouldn’t be good.

Oh wow, didn’t think about that. Thanks for the heads-up.

Use the hearing to let the judge know where things stand. They might even rule on your motion during the call.

Good point. Would they give new deadlines if the motion gets approved?

Yep, they’ll clarify any changes right there. Be ready to take notes!

If your motion isn’t approved yet, you’re still expected to stick to the old deadlines until you hear otherwise.

Got it. We’ll plan as if the old deadlines still apply for now.

Quick question: what’s a docket call? I’m not familiar with that term.

It’s like a check-in hearing. The court asks where everyone stands on the case and what’s next.

Ah, thanks for explaining! That’s helpful for others who might not know too.
