Trustee asking for bank info... discharged already?

Hey everyone, I need some advice. So, the trustee asked me to sign a consent letter to access all my bank info. The thing is, I was discharged on 01.04.2020. Do you think I could add a clause in the letter limiting their access to info from before that date? I’m in the UK, btw. Has anyone dealt with something like this?

I think you can add a clause, but double-check with a lawyer just to be safe. Did the trustee explain why they need this info now?

They didn’t really explain, just sent the request. I guess it’s for review purposes or something? IDK.

Yeah, might be worth asking them directly. Also, putting the clause seems like a good idea to limit what they can access.

Wait, what’s a discharge? Sorry, not familiar with UK bankruptcy stuff.

It’s when your debts are officially written off after bankruptcy. After that, you’re no longer liable for most of them.

Exactly what JKL said. Basically, I’m supposed to be done with the whole process, so this feels a bit odd.

Was this info request filed through a court or just sent directly to you? That might change things.

It was sent directly, not through the court. I’m not sure if that matters, though.

Might still be worth flagging this to a lawyer. Sometimes trustees overreach.

Adding a clause limiting access sounds reasonable to me. Did they specify which accounts or just ‘all info’?

They said all info. That’s what’s making me nervous about signing it without any limits.

Yeah, ‘all info’ feels way too broad. Definitely narrow it down before signing.

Are you working with a lawyer? They could help draft a letter with the clause you’re thinking about.

Not at the moment, but I might have to. Just wanted to see if anyone here had suggestions first.

Smart move. A lawyer could help you push back if the trustee’s request isn’t legit.
