What do I put on my DMV accident report if I wasn’t driving?

So I was in a car accident recently, and I really need some advice. I was in a U-Haul traveling west on 140E, and I was sleeping in the back. The driver fell asleep at the wheel, and we ended up tipping onto the side. The cops showed up, and since the driver’s license was suspended (I didn’t know that until after the crash), I told them I was driving, cause I was pretty delirious from hitting my head. Now I’m filling out the DMV accident report, but I don’t want to put that I was driving since I wasn’t. I’m not really sure what to do here… Anyone know what I should say in the report?

Yikes, that sounds like a tough situation. I think you should just tell the truth in the report. If the cops didn’t fully buy your story, the DMV will look into it anyway. Just be honest about what happened.

Yeah, I agree. The DMV is gonna check out everything, so being upfront is probably the best route. It might not be easy, but it’s the right thing.

Exactly! It might feel weird but better than getting into more trouble later. Hope it works out for you!

Sorry to hear about the accident. This is a tough one… but honesty is definitely the way to go. If you weren’t driving, then just put what happened. The truth will come out one way or another.

Yeah, like GHI said. The DMV will figure it out. But make sure to double-check your details to avoid any confusion later.

Man, that’s a crazy situation… I know it’s hard but being truthful on the report is gonna help you in the long run. Just tell them you were in the back and weren’t driving.

I totally agree. It might be a bit messy now, but telling the truth is the way to go. Good luck!

If you’re feeling confused about the report, maybe talk to a lawyer first. Even if you’re not sure about what to write, they can help guide you on the best way to proceed.

Thanks, PQR! I’ll look into that. I just want to make sure I do everything right.

Honestly, you just have to be honest about what happened. The DMV will likely verify things. If you weren’t driving, then say that. They’ll figure it out.

Thanks, STU! I feel better knowing I’m not alone in this. I’ll tell the truth and see what happens.
