My kid had a bad fall at school last Thursday. The clinic called me saying he slipped on mulch, but when I got there, he was in a terrible state. Took him to the ER, and it turned out he broke two bones and needed surgery. Later, my kid told me he was pushed by another student while on the play equipment, and a teacher was there when it happened. The school now says the CCTV in that area doesn’t work, and their story has changed a couple of times. I’ve got a meeting with the school next Monday. Just trying to figure out what to do. Thoughts?
Omg, that sounds so stressful. Have you gotten a clear explanation from the school yet?

Not really… they’ve told me a couple of different stories, which makes it all feel super suspicious.

Yeah, sounds like they’re trying to cover something up. I’d ask to meet that teacher who was there.
Wait, so there’s no working CCTV in that area? That’s weird. Shouldn’t schools have cameras everywhere for safety?

Exactly! I asked about the footage, but they said the cameras in that spot aren’t working. Super convenient, right?

No CCTV and changing stories? That’s a red flag. Maybe time to get a lawyer involved, just in case.
Did they at least apologize or offer to pay for the medical bills? Sounds like negligence to me.

Not yet. I’m hoping to get some clarity at the meeting, but honestly, I’m not sure what to expect.

You’re being way too patient, lol. They owe you answers AND the bills covered.
FYI, ‘pushed by another kid’ can still count as the school’s responsibility if they weren’t supervising properly.

Good point. I’ll bring that up at the meeting. Thanks for the tip!

What’s FYI mean? I always forget these abbreviations.

Haha, sorry! FYI = For Your Information.
What should you look out for in the meeting? Definitely write down all your questions so they can’t dodge them.

Thanks! That’s a good idea. I want to make sure I don’t miss anything important.

Also, bring someone with you, like your partner or a friend. Two sets of ears are better than one.
