So apparently there was a school board position open in our area, but nobody knew about it! The info about it changing to ‘trusty’ was never really shared with the community, and we had no idea there was going to be an election for an open seat. The craziest part is that the mayor had one of her people file for the spot and now they’re saying that person was ‘elected’ because no one else was running. We even tried to run against him, but they said we couldn’t because the deadline extension didn’t count for us. Plus, we couldn’t even do a write-in candidate. They just appointed him without an election. Is this normal? No one even knew there was an opening. This feels super off to me. Anyone have thoughts on this situation?
Wow, that sounds like a total mess. If no one knew about it, how are people supposed to run for these positions? It seems like the process should be way more transparent.
This is wild. It doesn’t sound like the election was even handled right. If there was no one running, shouldn’t they have just had a regular election or something?
This honestly seems shady to me. The whole process should’ve been way clearer, especially if there was a name change and no one knew there was an opening. Sounds like they just wanted someone in that position without any competition.
I’d suggest calling the election office and asking for a full breakdown of how this was handled. They might have missed some legal requirements about how the seat should’ve been filled. If the community wasn’t notified properly, it could be worth looking into further.
