So, I applied for housing through HUD while I was pregnant, but unfortunately, I miscarried. Now I’m worried they might take away my place since my family setup has changed. Has anyone been through something like this?
That’s tough, I’m really sorry to hear it. Did they say anything about updating your household size?

Thanks, I appreciate it. They didn’t say much yet, but I’m worried since I was approved based on family size.

I don’t think they can take your spot just because of a change like that. Maybe just need to update your info?
Check HUD rules! Some programs allow for family changes. A friend of mine went through this and kept her place.

Good to know! I’ll look into it. Just didn’t want to stir anything up and risk losing my spot.

Yeah, better to be upfront with them. They might just need an update, not a full re-application.
HUD’s policy can be pretty specific about household size at the time of application. You might need to clarify if it’s changed.

Right, it seems like they count everyone in the application… so maybe I just explain?

Totally. Just let them know, they usually have options for this kind of thing.
Sorry for what you’re going through. Maybe talking to a HUD counselor would help ease your mind?

Thanks, that might be a good idea. Didn’t realize HUD had counselors I could speak to!

They do, and they can walk you through stuff like this without triggering any issues.
I’ve heard some housing policies let you stay as long as there’s no other income change. Is that the case for you?

My income’s the same, so maybe that’s a good sign. Just didn’t want them to say I don’t qualify now.

Hopefully that keeps things stable for you. HUD can be strict, but they also want to help.
