I left a bag with medication at someone’s house and the person blocked me. What should I do?

Hi. So the other day (yesterday) I was at someone’s house and I accidentally left my purse there with my medication in it (epipens due to allergies). I tried getting in contact with the person about getting both my medication and purse back, but they blocked me. I was recommended by a friend of mine to call the non-emergency line, but I’m not entirely sure what to do. Does anyone have any advice?

Yes, contact non-emergency line and request an officer go with you to retrieve your personal items which are being withheld from you.

The non-emergency line should be your best bet.

Ask for an officer to accompany you to pick it up and ‘keep the peace’ for your safety.

Yep, call the non-emergency and report your purse and its contents along with the address it was last seen at. Police might investigate.

The other people have given you the best advice. They should just count their lucky stars that it wasn’t a controlled substance like oxy because then they would have enhanced charges. Hopefully, they will just give it back and grow the hell up. Was your wallet in your purse? Did you have any cash in it? Have your cards been compromised at all?

@Ari
OP needs to lock her cards and check EVERYTHING. They can use her ID for all sorts of bad things as well.

Additionally, an EpiPen without insurance is about $700. If she had more than one, that’s a significant amount of damages…

@Parrish
I was just thinking that. If she had multiple pens they took, they could be looking at felony charges.

@Ari
The good thing is I kept my wallet separate from everything else. The bag I had was just strictly for my EpiPens.

That’s good to hear. It will be much less of a headache for you. And as you keep saying EpiPens, assuming multiple, they could be in serious trouble. As they should be. That’s a life-saving medication and they are deliberately withholding it from you… which could carry a charge of its own in some places.

Make a police report about the stolen items. Call the doctor’s office and ask for refills giving them the police report number. If it wasn’t controlled, they most likely will refill - however, insurance may not pay for that.

@Wynter
EpiPens are super expensive, like $300-800 depending on insurance. I’d be pissed if someone was keeping that from me.

With GoodRx, which is effectively available everywhere, nobody should ever pay more than like $120ish for an EpiPen, insurance or no. And insurance plans often will cover them at even further reduced cost. Still expensive? Yes. $300-800? Simply not true.

Just went through guiding someone through this that was panicking about the cost days ago.

@Cameron
My wife paid close to $600 for hers when we had shit insurance. Like you said, you had to guide someone though it. Not everyone has someone available and knowledgeable to help navigate through that stuff, and what might be available in your state might not be in others.

Would it have been cheaper if you’d used this?
